7 days Campaign of Surendranath College NSS Unit-1

 

Day 1: Inaugural Ceremony and "Battle of Words" Competition

Date: 01/06/2026   
On 1st of June, we had the inauguration of our 7 days NSS campaign. We were blessed with the presence of our honorable guests:   
1) Dr Purnendu Prakash Pal - TIC, Surendranath College   
2) Dr Harishankar Biswas - Teachers' Council Secretary   
3) Swarup Dey Roy, Social Worker   
4) Colonel Rajib Mondal   
5) Dr Nilangsu Das   
6) Dr Achinta Biswas   
7) Dr Tushar Kanti Saha   
8) Tanmoy Mukherjee


The day began with the wonderful introductory speech regarding our 7 days campaign, by our NSS Representatives, Nilendu Hazra & Kasturi Ghosh. Thereby there was a mesmerizing opening dance presented by Rayatree Biswas.   
After honouring our guests with felicitations, we were blessed to have encouraging and warm words by each of them, which was concluded by the speech of the Assistant Professor & Program officer, Ramanuj Mukhopadhyay.   
Thereafter, we proceeded to our 'Battle of Words', which included the Debate and Extempore Competition, judged by, Judges

and underneath are the results to it:


Extempore 1st position: Koyena Chakraborty & Kasturi Ghosh   
Extempore Runner's up: Aatreyo Sikdar & Farhan Hossain   
Debate Best Speaker: Aishi Chowdhury   
Debate winner team: Against the motions (team members: Kasturi Ghosh, Aatreyo Sikdar, Koyena Chakraborty, Anushka Biswas)   
The winners shall be honourably rewarded on 7th of June.

Outcome:   
• Successfully inaugurated the 7 days NSS campaign.   
• Encouraged active participation of students in intellectual and cultural activities.   
• Promoted public speaking, critical thinking and confidence among participants.   
• Fostered teamwork, healthy competition and leadership qualities.   
• Strengthened the spirit of social service and responsibility among NSS volunteers.

 

Day 2: Health Awareness and Health Check-up Camp

Date: 02/06/2026   
On 02/06/2026, the NSS unit of Surendranath College organized a Health Awareness and Health Check-up Camp for local citizens; the activities were conducted at local slum area situated at Lattu Para, ward no. 49, which has been adopted by the NSS unit of Surendranath College.   
The program included awareness talks on personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, common diseases, and healthy lifestyle habits. Basic health check-ups such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and general health screening were conducted. Participants were given necessary health advice and guidance by medical professionals.   
The camp witnessed active participation from the community. The activity successfully created awareness about maintaining good health and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Outcome:   
• Enhanced health awareness among citizens.   
• Encouraged regular health check-ups and preventive healthcare.   
• Promoted healthy lifestyle choices within the community.   


 Day 3: Tree Plantation Drive, Distribution of Books and Essential Supplies, and Civic Sense Awareness Program

Date: 03/06/2026

Following the plantation drive, books and essential supplies were distributed among underprivileged children in nearby slum areas; the activities were conducted at local slum area situated at Lattu Para, ward no. 49, which has been adopted by the NSS unit of Surendranath College.

A Civic Sense Awareness Program was also organized, where volunteers educated children and local residents about cleanliness, responsible citizenship, traffic rules, proper use of public property, and the importance of community participation for a better society.

Outcome:

  • Promoted environmental awareness through tree plantation.
  • Provided educational support and essential items to underprivileged children.
  • Increased awareness about civic responsibilities and good citizenship.
  • Strengthened the spirit of social service and responsibility among volunteers.

Conclusion:

The activities conducted on 02/06/2026 and 03/06/2026 by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College were successful and meaningful. They contributed to health awareness, environmental sustainability, educational support, and civic responsibility. These programs reflect the motto of NSS: "Not Me But You."

 

Day 4: Discussion on Vital Matters & Poster Making Competition

Date: 04/06/2026

The activities were conducted under the NSS Special Camp organized by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College.

The day was graced by the presence of our esteemed guests:

The program commenced with a briefing on the NSS 7-Day Special Camp by the junior representative, Kasturi. During the session, the achievements and successful completion of the first three days of the camp were reviewed, and the action plan for the remaining days was discussed.

The distinguished guests motivated the volunteers with their inspiring words and conducted enriching discussions on important contemporary issues, including:

  • War, Fuel Crisis and Efficient Utilisation of Resources
  • Indian Constitution: Duties and Responsibilities of Citizens

The participants were greatly benefited by the valuable guidance and insights shared by Col. Sabyasachi Bagchi, Professor Bimal Shankar Nanda, and Dr. Harishankar Biswas.

The day concluded with a Poster Making Competition, where students creatively expressed their thoughts through informative and impactful posters based on the following themes:

  • World Environment Day
  • The National Green Hydrogen Mission
  • Zero-Waste Lifestyle

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. The winners of the competition are scheduled to be announced on the final day of the NSS Special Camp.

Outcome:

  • Enhanced awareness regarding global challenges such as war, fuel conservation, and sustainable resource utilisation.
  • Increased understanding of constitutional duties and responsibilities among students.
  • Encouraged critical thinking and informed discussion on contemporary social and environmental issues.
  • Promoted creativity, innovation, and environmental consciousness through poster-making activities.
  • Strengthened teamwork, leadership qualities, and social responsibility among NSS volunteers.

Conclusion:

The activities conducted on 04/06/2026 by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College were insightful and inspiring. The discussions and poster-making competition contributed significantly to intellectual growth, environmental awareness, and civic education. These programs reflect the motto of NSS: "Not Me But You."

 

Day 5: SNC's Women's Day

Date: 05/06/2026

On 5th June, we were delighted to have hosted our Women's Day. Women's Day is a celebration of the strength, resilience, achievements, and invaluable contributions of women in every sphere of life. It is a reminder of the importance of gender equality and the need to empower women through education, respect, safety, and equal opportunities. The day aims to create awareness about the challenges women face and to inspire collective efforts towards building a more inclusive and equitable society.

The program commenced with an opening speech delivered by Kasturi and Aishi.

We had the honour of having the following esteemed guests among us:

  • Shyamali Mukherjee Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor of Surendranath Law College
  • MRA Nandini Bhattacharya, President of All Bengal Men's Forum
  • Dr. Abhijit Rakshit, Professor of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata

After the felicitation ceremony, each of our guests addressed the audience and engaged in insightful discussions on crucial issues affecting women in today's society. The topics included Sexual Harassment, Dowry, Medical issues, and essential health advice for women. Their valuable perspectives and suggestions enlightened the audience and encouraged active participation.

The event was concluded by the Programme Officer, Professor Ramanuj Mukhopadhyay, whose thoughtful words inspired everyone to continue working towards a safer, more respectful, and more just society for all.

Towards the end of the day, we enjoyed an amazing small drama based on the awareness of dowry, which powerfully conveyed the message of standing against such social evils. The drama was directed by Aatreyo Sikdar, narrated by Kasturi Ghosh, and performed by Mirza, Anushka, Ratna, Abhijeet, Priya, Aatreyo with special mention to Mayukh, Subhayan, Sneha & Mandira for their enthusiastic support and contribution.

It was truly a successful and memorable day dedicated to honoring and empowering women.

Outcome:

  • Raised awareness about women's rights and social issues.
  • Encouraged open discussions on important concerns like sexual harassment, dowry, and health.
  • Honored and appreciated the contributions and strength of women in society.
  • Strengthened unity, sensitivity, and respect towards women through culture and dialogue.

The activities conducted on 05/06/2026 by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College were impactful and meaningful. The event promoted awareness, education, respect, and empowerment of women. These initiatives reflect the motto of NSS: "Not Me But You."

 

Day 6: Outreach to Orphanage Kids – Sujata Child (NGO)

Date: 06/06/2026

The activity was conducted under the NSS Special Camp organized by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College.

On the 6th day of our 7 days event, the NSS volunteers reached out to the children of Sujata Child (NGO) to spend a joyful and meaningful day with them.

The day began with the distribution of chocolates, bringing smiles to the little faces.

This was followed by a soulful Ranbiranath Sangeet presented by Anushka Biswas, which created a calm and enriching atmosphere. Inspiring the young minds further, Kasturi delivered a motivational speech, encouraging the children to dream big, stay positive, and believe in themselves.

1. Fun Activities

The volunteers then engaged the children in fun-filled activities like Passing the Ball and Musical Chairs, which filled the environment with laughter and excitement.

2. Friendly Competition – Drawing

After the fun activities, a drawing competition was organized among the children, divided into three categories based on their classes and themes:

The children enthusiastically participated and showcased their creativity through wonderful drawings.

3. Overall Competition

A friendly overall competition was also held among the children, divided into three categories based on their classes:

  • 1–4
  • 5–8
  • 9–10

Winners were rewarded with prizes as per category – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Later, healthy food items were distributed to all the children.

It was our sincere motive to spend quality time with the children and give them a day filled with happiness, care, and beautiful memories.

Understanding Their World:

Many children at the orphanage come from difficult backgrounds. They often face challenges like lack of proper education, limited resources, and emotional support. Seeing their bright smiles and enthusiasm reminded us how a little attention and love can make a big difference in their lives.

How NSS Helps:

Through such outreach programs, NSS volunteers try to bring positivity into their lives by spending time with them, listening to them, and supporting their growth. While we may not solve all their problems, we believe in standing by them, spreading happiness, and inspiring them to dream big.

The day concluded with warm goodbyes and hearts full of gratitude.

  • Encouraged creativity, confidence, and active participation among the children.
  • Fostered a sense of inclusion, empathy, and care among NSS volunteers.
  • Strengthened the bond between the volunteers and the children.

Conclusion:

The outreach activity at Sujata Child (NGO) on 06/06/2026 was a heartwarming experience for both the children and the volunteers. It reminded us of the power of kindness, time, and togetherness. Through small efforts, NSS continues to create a meaningful impact and work towards a better, more compassionate society.

 

Day 7: Cultural Day

Date: 07/06/2026

The activities were conducted under the NSS Special Camp organized by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College.

The day commenced with a Dance Competition based on cultural themes, which was judged by our honourable judge, Sutapa Dey Sarkar. We were also honoured by the presence of our esteemed chief guests, Ananta Sinha Roy and Sujit Chakraborty, along with our TIC, Purnendu Prakash Pal.

The programme began with a briefing on the successful implementation of the NSS 7-Day Special Camp by our representative, Kasturi Ghosh. This was followed by the felicitation of the judge and guests. The dignitaries, along with our Programme Officer Ramanuj Mukhopadhyay, addressed the volunteers and appreciated their dedication and active participation throughout the camp.

The day concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the winners of various competitions held during the camp, including Dance, Poster Making, Debate and Extempore. Participation awards for the Dowry and Ramp activities, awards for NSS volunteers, and Scarves of Honour for representatives Nilendu, Kasturi, and Sujoy were also presented. Certificates of Honour were distributed among former NSS volunteers, marking the successful conclusion of the 7-Day NSS Special Camp.

The activities conducted on 07/06/2026 by the NSS Unit of Surendranath College marked the successful culmination of the 7-Day NSS Special Camp. The cultural events and competitions fostered holistic development, strengthened bonds among volunteers, and reaffirmed the spirit of service and commitment to the society.
