Brief History
The Chemistry Department is one of the oldest departments of this college which was established before Independence. It is an important and quite popular Department with substantial number of students. The Department is comparatively spacious comprising of two large Honours Laboratories and two General Laboratories, all well-equipped with necessary apparatus, chemicals and instruments. There is also an organized MRP Laboratory to carry out research activities by the faculties. There are eight full-time faculties (six faculties with Ph.D., one pursuing Ph.D. and one with M.Sc degree). All faculties are sincere enough to mentor the vast number of students. There is also a moderate stock of reference books in the Department which are issued to both Honours and General students as reference. Beside studies, all kind of extracurricular activities, like E-magazine, review writing, making of YouTube video for different cultural programme are also encouraged here. This heritage Department has so far produced galaxy of famous alumni to be proud of.

2. This Department takes sincere initiatives so that students are introduced with the modern trends of their subject through invited seminar talks by different distinct scientists of global standard.

The Department conducts tutorial and remedial classes, publishes wall magazines, publishers book chapter by students and teachers in international publisher, encourages seminar presentations by students, arranges talk by resource person, arranges industry visit, laboratories visit, arranges parent-teacher meetings and all the staffs of the department work together for our students’ holistic development.
4. With a well-maintained and updated departmental seminar library, the Department caters the academic needs of the students.
5. The Department also provides latest teaching gadgets and ICT tools to promote effective teaching-learning experience of the students.
