Summary Report: A seminar on GIS & Remote Sensing has been organized by the department of Geography in collaboration with IQAC, Surendranath College. With the permission of our respected Principal Sir Dr. Indranil Kar and IQAC coordinator Dr. Achintya Biswas, an introductory speech was given by our HOD Smt. Sulagna Ghosh and she gave some words about the resource person. Then the resource person was felicitated by Smt. Bani Mukherjee . The number of participants was 74. The lecture started at 12.15 pm sharp. At first a brief introduction on GIS and Remote Sensing was given by the respected resource person which was very helpful to the students before doing the practical work. Then the practical part like how to draw a true color map, FCC, supervised image classification, preparation of LULC features across different image bands of IRS L3, waypoint drawing and area calculations from GNSS data etc. was discussed. After completing the lecture and discussion the question answer session was started which will take 10 mins. This event was very needful for our students because one paper on GIS and Remote Sensing is in their curriculum. The session ended at 3 pm. Lastly we are also very much thankful to the respectable resource person Mr. Ayan Ghosh for the wonderful discussion as well as the participants who are kind enough to attend the event and make the seminar successful.
